What’s Next

I’ve been sitting on some news…

It’s not my best-kept secret, mostly because I didn’t intend for it to be a secret at all.

Change is coming though, and I haven’t taken the time to tell you all about it…until now.

I started a business back in March, and then I proceeded to do nearly nothing with it. I find it’s difficult to dive into an entrepreneurial venture while working a full-time, always-on-call job.

So I quit…well, I put in my notice…my nearly two month notice, to be more accurate. My last day will be January 7th.

I’ve been at Moody Bible Institute since 2008, and I’ve learned more than a little during my time there. I’ve been stretched, but one thing remained constant, and that has been my peace with complacency.

I have long been one a little too eager to stay on the path of least resistance, and I’ve come to believe that to be one of the most ridiculous ways a person can act. Being on that path helps exactly no one, with the exception, I suppose, of the person willing to do what you won’t.

There’s another word for that path of least resistance type of thinking:  Passivity

I’ve talked about passivity before, perhaps without saying the word itself. Make no mistake, passivity is a plague. It must be irradicated, and when you discover pockets of it still in your life, you must treat them with great hostility.

In my life, I have at times been passive in my marriage, my finances, my choice of work, and I’m sure other things that I will remember or discover.

KS Technologies will, among other things, cleanse a pocket of passivity from me. For as long as I can remember, I always wanted to run a business. Those business ideas have morphed into and out of different industries and models, and I suspect that will continue to be true. “KS Technologies” as a name allows for a number of options, and I intend to take full advantage of that.

In its initial form, KS Technologies will refurbish and resell computers, with an emphasis on “retro computing”, especially of the Commodore brand. I’m also a creative though…an ideas guy. There are a lot of things I’m looking forward to trying out, but I’m keeping most of that close to the vest for now.

I’m excited, I’m at peace, and I’m just the right about of terrified.

Here’s the part where I ask you for help:

Pray for me, that God would continue to bring fresh vision and the ability to bring it to life. This is the most important way you can help.

If you have any old computer systems laying around, I’ll take them off your hands for you! I want to specialize in Commodore, Atari, Apple 8 and 16-bit systems, but if it’s helpful for you to get rid of it, I can probably use it. Don’t be shy in asking.

I’m signing off for now. The adventure starts January 8th!
